Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.
My goal is to help you and/or your child uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. We can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you in my personalized strength-based approach to achieve your goals. If you or your child require a different approach to traditional talk therapy, rest assured, we have options we can discuss during treatment planning.
Talk therapy alone is not always the most effective method to utilize with children and teens. Play therapy is structured and theoretically based, and I offer a prescriptive approach based on your child's developmental needs ranging from traditional child-centered play therapy to expressive arts, sand tray therapy, to directive approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy and Playful Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Play- based activities can be used alone or in conjunction with talk therapy. I am a credentialed Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor through the Association for Play Therapy. Play Therapy is an evidenced-based treatment that uses a child's natural language of play to help them address and resolve their own problems. Additionally, I am certified in Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) through the EMDR International Association. EMDR can be fast- acting integrated psychotherapy approach that can be used alone or in conjunction with other mental health treatments to relieve the effects of painful emotional experiences, traumatic events, and other types of psychological stress. For those formally trained in both EMDR and play therapy, weaving these techniques together have proven to be a successful and developmentally appropriate treatment choice for children who have experienced trauma and/or adverse experiences.
